Voter registration deadline for Sarasota County Special Referenda and City of Venice General Elections extended due to public holiday

( SARASOTA , FL October 3, 2005 ) – Due to the October 10 Columbus Day holiday, t he registration deadline for the November 8 Sarasota County Special Referenda Election and the City of Venice General Election is extended to Tuesday, October 11. ( Florida law provides that if the 29 th day preceding an election [October 10] falls on a Sunday or a legal holiday, the registration books must be closed on the next day that is not a Sunday or legal holiday.)

To apply to register to vote, a completed Florida Voter Registration Application Form must be submitted to the supervisor of elections by October 11, 2005 . Florida Voter Registration Application Forms are available at supervisor of elections offices, city halls, county libraries, county offices, social service agencies and at many area banks, or by calling 861-8600.
