Sarasota County students to vote on favorite book

(SARASOTA, Fl, April 4, 2005) – Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent announces that third graders in Sarasota County elementary schools will be participating in the Sunshine State Young Reader’s Program and voting on the county’s touch screen voting machines in an election April 5, 6, and 7th. Students will select their favorite book from a list 15 titles nominated. To be eligible to vote each student must have read or had read to them 3 of the 15 books.

The Sunshine State Young Reader’s Award program is a statewide reading motivation program to encourage students to read independently.
