Official
sample ballots for August 31 primary will be mailed soon
(SARASOTA, Fl, Aug 2, 2004) – Official
Sample Ballots for the August 31 primary and Sarasota County Special
Charter Referendum elections will be mailed to all registered voters
the second week in August, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy
Dent said today.
The primary ballot includes three Universal Primary Contests (Sheriff
and Hospital Board at Large Seats 1 and 3), races for U.S. Congress,
the State Legislature, School Board, Circuit Judge, County Judge and
state party offices, as well as 10 Sarasota County Charter amendments.
Ms. Dent urges voters to study the candidates and issues, mark the clip-out
section of the sample ballot and take it for reference to the polling
place on election day.
Ms. Dent also reminds voters that they may avoid expected long lines
at the polls on election day by voting early on touch-screen voting
machines in one of the SOE’s three offices in Sarasota (Terrace
Bldg., 2001 Adams Lane); Venice (R.L. Anderson Administration Bldg.,
4000 Tamiami Trail South), and North Port (Biscayne Plaza, 13640 Tamiami
Trail).
Ballots may be cast Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in the
Sarasota and Venice SOE offices, and from 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. in the
North Port office. The North Port office is closed weekdays from 12-1
p.m. All three offices will be open for early voting on Saturday, August
21 and Saturday, August 28 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Voters who have questions may contact the supervisor of elections office
at 861-8600.
