Sarasota student awarded F.S.A.S.E. scholarship

Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent presents $1200 scholarship to USF Business Administration student Nayda Rivera as USF's Dr Laurey Stryker looks on

(SARASOTA, FL, July 1, 2004) – Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent (right) today presented a $1200 scholarship on behalf of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections to Ms Nayda Ivette Rivera (center), a Business Administration student at USF. Also attending the presentation was USF CEO, Dr Laurey Stryker (left).

A Sarasota resident and mother of an eight-year old son, Ms Rivera graduated Summa
Cum Laude from MCC this past spring earning an AA. She is currently attending USF
and plans to graduate in the fall of 2005 with a BA in General Business and eventually a
Master’s in Business.

Ms Rivera recently received the U.S. Achievement Academy (USAA) Collegiate All-
American Scholar Award, has been nominated to be on the National Dean’s List, and is
involved in numerous volunteer activities.

“Nayda is a multi-talented young woman with exceptional focus and energy,” Ms Dent said. “She has successfully juggled her academic career with motherhood and community service and I know that her excellent work and study ethic will prepare her for unlimited achievement and success.”
