Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Action Alert (SARASOTA, FL, January 28, 2004) – The registration deadline is approaching for the March 9 Presidential Preference Primary Election, Longboat Key General Election, and Englewood Area Fire Control District Referendum Election. Residents who are registered to vote in Sarasota County by Monday, February 9 will be eligible to vote in this election. February 9 is also the deadline for changing political party affiliation for the Presidential Preference Primary. All voters registered in Sarasota County and who are residents of Longboat Key will have the opportunity to vote in Longboat Key General municipal election. Sarasota County registered voters and residents of the Englewood Area Fire Control District will be able to vote in the referendum election. Only voters registered as democrats will be able to vote for candidates in the Presidential Preference Primary race. Supervisor of Elections, Kathy Dent, recommends that voters make sure their voter registration information is current with her office. If a voter has moved or changed names since the last election, current information should be submitted to the Supervisor of Elections, PO Box 4194, Sarasota, FL 34230-4194, no later than February 9.
