PART OF THE ELECTION DAY PROCESS
(Sarasota,
FL, July 25, 2003) – The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections’
office will hold several one-hour poll worker orientation sessions in
August and October for people interested in working at the polls on Election
Day.
On August 18 afternoon and evening orientation classes
will be held at the Gulf Gate Library at 2 and 7 pm and on August 21 at
the Selby Library at 2 and 7 pm.
In October, orientation classes have been scheduled for
October 20, 7 pm at Gulf Gate Library; October 21, 10 am at Selby Library,
and October 22, 2 pm and 7 pm at Fruitville Library.
Each participant is asked to bring his/her Florida driver’s license,
Social Security card, and Sarasota County voter ID card to the orientation
sessions. Poll workers must be U.S. citizens, registered voters or eligible
to register to vote (17 years or older) in Sarasota County, and able to
speak and read English.
The Supervisor of Elections employs more than 1,800 poll
workers on Election Day and is always searching for reliable and energetic
people to serve. The public may call the Supervisor of Elections’
poll worker coordinator at 861-8640 with questions about serving as a
poll worker or about the poll worker orientation sessions.
