Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections
To Hold Summer Conference in Sarasota

(SARASOTA, FL, May 27, 2003) - Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections,Kathy Dent, announces that the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections Annual Summer Conference will be held at the Sarasota Hyatt Hotel from June 2 through June 5, 2003. Florida’s counties will be represented by more than 230 supervisors and staff member as well as 19 exhibitors.

Association committees are scheduled to meet on Monday, June 2, and official business sessions start on Tuesday, June 3. Lt. Governor Toni Jennings will be presenting a legislative update on June 3. Secretary of State Glenda Hood will be addressing the group on State Division of Elections issues on June 3. Lisa Carlton, State Senator, District 23, will be Guest Speaker on June 2.

On Wednesday and Thursday mornings, national election experts from Washington, DC., New York State and Texas will be holding seminars on the latest elections legislation and implementation of State plans. The Division of Elections will make presentations on topics which will include technology and procedures, voting accessibility, the Presidential Preference Primary, and the 2002 Federal Help America Vote Act.
