SARASOTA COUNTY FAIR ELECTION RESULTS IN

Sarasota County fair goers, using the county’s touch screen voting machine, overwhelmingly chose the Roller Coaster, the Rabbits and the Pig Races as their favorite fair things.

In voting from March 14-23, in the Supervisor of Elections’ booth at the Sarasota County Fair, 37.19% of voters chose the Pig Races as their favorite event, 36.76% chose Rabbits as their favorite animal and 33.24% chose the Roller Coaster as their favorite fair ride.

Elephant Ears, chosen by 29.25% of voters, edged out Corn Dogs, Funnel Cakes, and Soft Pretzels to take the Favorite Food category.

Fair goers under 18 years old accounted for 37.81% of the total number of voters, 18-25 year olds for 7.56%, 26-39 year olds 8.96%, 40-55 year olds 15.96%, 56-64 year olds 12.88% and 65 and over 16.80%.

Seventy-one percent of voters were Sarasota County residents, 57.89% were registered voters, and an overwhelming 96.75 percent said they enjoyed the touch-screen experience.
