MEETING OF THE SARASOTA COUNTY CANVASSING BOARD
AND CANVASSING OF THE ABSENTEE BALLOTS FOR THE NOVEMBER 5, 2002 GENERAL ELECTION Sealed absentee ballots received prior to Friday, November 1, 2002, for the General Election, will be available for public inspection from 11:30 a.m. until 12:30 a.m. on Friday, November 1, 2002, at the office of the Supervisor of Elections, 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota, Florida. The Sarasota County Canvassing Board will meet at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 1, 2002, to canvass absentee ballots. Immediately thereafter, the canvassed absentee ballots will be opened and processed through the high speed optical reader. On Monday, November 4, 2002, sealed absentee ballots received on November 1 through November 4 will be available for public inspection from 3:30 p.m. until 4:30 p.m. The Sarasota County Canvassing Board will meet at 6:30 p.m., Monday, November 4, 2002, to canvass absentee ballots received from November 1, 2002 forward. Immediately thereafter, the canvassed absentee ballots will be opened and processed through the high speed optical reader. On Election Day, November 5, 2002, sealed absentee ballots received on November 4 and on November 5, 2002, will be available for public inspection from 5:30 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. The Sarasota County Canvassing Board will convene at 6:15 p.m. November 5 and will remain in session until the results of the election are obtained. Provisional ballots will be canvassed as received from polling locations. If there are additional provisional ballots to be canvassed, the Sarasota County Canvassing Board will convene at 8:00 a.m. Wednesday, November 6, 2002, at the office of the Supervisor of Elections to canvass the additional provisional ballots and receive any comments from the public. The Board will reconvene November 15, 2002, at 12:00 noon at the office of the Supervisor of Elections to canvass overseas/military absentee ballots received in compliance with 1S-2.013(7) of the Florida Administrative Code. In accordance with the Sunshine Law of Florida, all Canvassing Board meetings are open to the public. Note: §286.0105, Florida Statutes, states that if a person decides to appeal any decision by a board, agency, or commission with respect to any matter considered at a meeting or hearing, he or she will need a record of the proceedings, and that, for such purpose, he or she may need to ensure that a verbatim record of the proceedings is made, which record includes the testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based. /s/ | |||
