County Supervisor of Elections Action Alert
Absentee Ballot Postage
(Sarasota, FL, October 7, 2002) – The Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections office is advising voters who are returning absentee ballots for the November 5, 2002 General Election to place $.60 postage on the envelope to ensure delivery. Hundreds of ballots mailed using a $.37 stamp have been received by the Supervisor of Elections office but several mail carriers have returned ballots to voters because the postage was insufficient. Voters who have had their ballot returned to them because the postage was insufficient are asked to call Voter Services at 861-8600 to request a new certificate envelope. Voters may also place the ballot in the original certificate envelope and then in another envelope and mail it using $.60 postage. “A simple and convenient way to avoid paying any postage is to
come into one of our offices and vote absentee.” says Supervisor
of Elections, Kathy Dent. “Our offices are located at 101 S. Washington
Building and in the Robert L. Anderson Building in Venice. People can
vote Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. up until 7 P.M.
on election day using the new touch screen equipment.” Dent said.
Both offices will also be open on Saturday, November 2, 2002 from 9:00
a.m. until 1 p.m. | |||
