Supervisor of Elections Action Alert-
Qualifying Ends

(Sarasota, FL, August 22, 2002) – Qualifying for all Sarasota candidates ended at noon on Tuesday, August 20. Absentee ballots have been printed and were mailed yesterday. Kathy Dent, Supervisor of Elections, wants to remind everyone to complete their ballots and return them to her office no later than 7 P.M. on September 10, the Primary Election Day.

In-office absentee voting will be available to all voters at both Supervisor of Elections offices, the Terrace Building at 101 S. Washington Boulevard in Sarasota and at the Robert L. Anderson Administration Center at 4000 Tamiami Trail S. in Venice, beginning on Monday, August 26. Voters are reminded to bring both photo and signature ID with them.

Sample ballots will be mailed to every household with registered voters beginning Monday, August 26. Supervisor Dent encourages everyone to review their sample ballots prior to voting on election day. “There are so many races and issues to be decided that it would behoove everyone to come prepared.”

All 228,000+ registered voters should have or will be receiving shortly a new voter ID card. It is extremely important that voters check the new card as precinct and/or polling location may have changed and they may be voting in a different place than in previous elections.
