Mailing of sample ballots delayed (Sarasota, FL, August 28, 2002) – Due to a printer’s error, Supervisor of Elections, Kathy Dent announces that the mailing of the sample ballots for the September 10 primary election will be delayed. The Supervisor of Elections office had planned to mail the sample ballots to every household containing registered voters this week.
Dent’s office had approved a correct version of the sample ballot before it was sent to the printer. The printer made an error and printed and delivered to the supervisor’s office a different version of the ballot than the version that was approved. The printer’s mistake was discovered after the Supervisor’s office had received the sample ballots from the printer. The printer had omitted one charter amendment on the sample ballot and had printed another race in its place.
“The Supervisor of Elections office will publish a sample ballot in area newspapers. The corrected ballots will be printed and mailed to every household containing registered voters in Sarasota County as soon as they arrive from the printer,” Dent said.
