(SARASOTA,
FL, Jan 29, 2002) – The
City of Sarasota will hold a special election on Tuesday, March 12. Residents of
the City of Sarasota will decide the “Strong Mayor” ballot issue. Only
citizens residing in the City of Sarasota and who are registered to vote in
Sarasota County by Monday, February
11 will be eligible to vote in
this election.
Supervisor
of Elections Kathy Dent recommends that voters verify their registration status.
To participate in this election, voters who have moved since the last election
must update their residence address with the Supervisor of Elections office. All
address changes must be submitted in writing to the Supervisor of Elections, PO
BOX 4194, Sarasota, FL 34230-4194.
City
residents not registered to vote in Sarasota County have until February 11 to
submit a completed Florida Voter Registration Application Form. These forms are
available at the Supervisor of Elections offices, City Hall, county libraries,
county offices, and many area banks.
