Sarasota County supervisor of elections accepting scholarship applications

(SARASOTA, FL,) Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent today announced her office is accepting applications for $1,200 scholarships awarded by the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections for the 2008 academic year. Applications must be received by March 26, 2008.

The scholarships are available to juniors or seniors attending an accredited Florida university or college, with a major in political science, public or business administration, or journalism/mass communications.

The applicant must be a U.S. citizen, a resident of Florida for the preceding two years, enrolled or accepted as a full-time student in a senior college or university in Florida, have maintained a “C” average or above for the previous year, and be registered to vote.  Applicants must also demonstrate a financial need.
