Machine recount to be conducted in 13th Congressional District race Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent announces the machine recount, expected to be ordered by the Elections Canvassing Commission, in the race for 13th Congressional District will begin Monday, November 13, at 10 a.m. Pursuant to Florida Statute 102.141(6), if the unofficial election returns reflect that a candidate for any office was defeated or eliminated or a measure appearing on the ballot was defeated by one-half of a percent or less of the votes cast for that office or measure, a machine recount of the votes cast with respect to such office or measure shall be ordered. Unofficial returns show that in the race for 13th Congressional District meets the legal criteria for a recount. The recount will be conducted at the supervisor of elections Voting Equipment Facility (VEF) in the Sarasota County Interim Government Operations Center (IGOC), 1001 Sarasota Center Blvd, Sarasota. In the event a manual recount is required (ordered when the unofficial returns from the machine recount indicate that a candidate was defeated or eliminated by one-quarter of a percent or less of the total votes cast for the office) it will begin at 10 a.m. Thursday, November 16 at the VEF. The recount process is open to the public. | |||
