Important reminder to voters Sarasota County voters are turning out in great numbers for early voting and, hopefully, will continue this trend through Election Day, Tuesday, November 7. To ensure that your votes are accurately cast, please remember these three simple, fail-safe steps to using the county's touch screen voting system. 1) Make your Selections - Make your selection by touching your choice on the screen until it becomes highlighted. If you change your mind, touch the same choice again to undo the highlight. Touch "Next Page" at the bottom right of the screen to move forward through the ballot. 2) Review your Selections - After you have made all your selections, touch "Review Ballot" at the bottom right of the screen to check them. To change a vote, touch the name or issue on the "Review Ballot" page or step back through the ballot using "Previous Page" in the lower left of the screen. 3) Vote - Press the flashing red "VOTE" button at the top of the screen to cast your ballot. When you see the message "Thank you for Voting" on the screen, you will know that your ballot has been cast. Finally, the November 7 ballot is a lengthy one, no matter where in Sarasota County you reside. Please be sure to start at the top. The first three races on all ballots are those for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives and governor, followed by county and judicial races, Constitutional and charter amendments, and municipal races. If you have any questions about the ballot, please ask a poll worker for help. There are no stupid questions. By following these simple guidelines, you can be confident that your vote will be counted.
