Voter Registration Deadline Nears for the General Election (SARASOTA, FL, September 26, 2006) - The registration deadline is approaching for the November 7 General and Special elections. One must be registered in Sarasota County by Tuesday, October 10, to be eligible to vote in these elections. To register to vote, a Florida Voter Registration Application Form must be completed and submitted to any Supervisor of Elections' office. The November 7 ballot will include races for U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives 13th District, Governor and Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Chief Financial Officer, Commissioner of Agriculture, State House districts 69, 70, and 71, County Charter Review Board, Hospital Board, Supreme Court, Appellate and Circuit judicial offices, six (6) State Constitutional Amendments and one (1) Sarasota County Charter Amendment. Registered voters living in the City of Venice, City of North Port, Bobcat Trail and Lakeside Plantation may also vote on candidates and/or issues specific to their jurisdictions. Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent recommends that voters make sure their voter registration information is current with her office. To update name, signature or to change party affiliation, it will be necessary to complete and submit a Florida Voter Registration Application to the Supervisor of Elections office. Applications are available at Supervisor of Elections' offices, city halls, county libraries, county offices, social service agencies and at many area banks, or by calling 861-8600.
