Voter Registration Deadline Nears for September Primary (SARASOTA, FL, July 24, 2006) - Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent announced today that the registration deadline is approaching for the September 5 Primary Election and City of North Port Primary Election. Residents must be registered by August 7 to be eligible to vote in these elections. August 7 is also the deadline for changing political party affiliation for this year's primaries. There will be Democratic and Republican primaries for U.S. Congress, governor, state and county offices. All voters will have the opportunity to vote in judicial and school board races and one hospital board race. All residents of the City of North Port who are registered to vote will have a city primary on their ballots. A sample ballot will be mailed to every registered voter beginning second week of August. Ms. Dent encourages every voter to review the sample ballot prior to voting. The supervisor of elections office will begin mailing absentee ballots on August 1. The last day absentee ballots will be mailed is August 30. Voted absentee ballots must be received in the SOE office by 7 p.m. on election day. Ms. Dent also urges all voters to make sure their voter registration information is current with her office. Florida Voter Registration Application forms are available at Supervisor of Elections offices, city halls, county libraries, county offices, social service agencies, at many area banks or by or may be downloaded from www.srqelections.com. | |||
