Sarasota student to receive F.S.A.S.E. scholarship
SARASOTA, FL, June 23, 2006 - For the third year running, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent will present a $1200 scholarship on behalf of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections to a Sarasota college student. Alechia Nichole Wimberly, a graduate of the private West Coast School for Human Development and Manatee Community College, is one of three Florida students chosen by the FSASE to receive its annual scholarship award. Ms Wimberly has been accepted at Florida International University in Miami, where she plans to major in Marketing with a minor in Business Administration. While a student at the West Coast School, Ms Wimberly served as a student poll worker and as a member of the Supervisor of Elections Student Advisory Board. "Alechia is a multi-talented young woman who has excelled academically and made significant contributions to the community," Ms Dent said. "Her leadership abilities, exceptional focus and energy, prepare her well for continued academic challenges and accomplishments." A scholarship presentation ceremony will be held in Ms Dent's office in the Terrace Bldg, 101 S Washington Blvd, at 3 p.m. on Friday, June 30. The Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections' Scholarship Foundation provides scholarships to deserving students in the fields of political science/public administration/business administration or journalism/mass communications. Funds are derived from gifts and contributions from the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections. | |||
