FSASE, WALGREENS AND FLORIDA RETAIL FEDERATION CREATE VOTER PARTNERSHIP

(Sarasota, FL ) The Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE), in partnership with Walgreens and the Florida Retail Federation, announced today that voter registration materials will be available in Walgreens stores throughout the state.

According to Kathy Dent, Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections, "We are excited to announce this partnership and provide our citizens with this unique opportunity to register and update their registration information. It is our goal to increase citizen participation in the electoral process by providing every opportunity possible for our citizens to register to vote."

During the month of May, Supervisors of Elections have focused their voter outreach effort on registering voters at their local merchants. "The partnership with Walgreens," Dent continued, "undoubtedly creates a greater opportunity for us to reach new voters in addition to those who need to update their voter registration record."

"Voter registration is essential to a strong democracy, and Florida's retailers are proud to support these efforts," said Rick McAllister, president and CEO of the Florida Retail Federation. "This program is a tremendous opportunity to increase citizen participation, because retailers have the ability to reach every resident of Florida."

Each Walgreens store will have Voter Applications at the check-out and prescription counters. Voters will have the opportunity to pick up an application, fill it out at home and mail it to their county Supervisor of Elections.

"With nearly 700 convenient locations throughout the state, offering voter registration at Walgreens is a good way to serve both our customers and the state of Florida," said Brad Wasson, Walgreens vice president of store operations. "We hope this program will result in many more state residents becoming actively engaged in the democratic process."
