Public invited to attend logic and accuracy testing

(SARASOTA, FL, Feb 21, 2006) - Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent invites the public to attend logic and accuracy testing of the county's voting and tabulating equipment to be used in the March 14, 2006, Sarasota County School Board Special Referendum, Town of Longboat Key General Election, and Holiday Park Park and Recreation District Trustee Election.

The testing is scheduled at 9 a.m., Friday, February 24 at the office of the Supervisor of Elections in the Terrace Building at 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota, Florida.

Logic and accuracy testing is performed prior to every election on a random sample of all the voting machines that will be fielded on election day to ensure that they are operating and recording accurately.

The public is also invited to inspect sealed absentee ballots received for each election Monday, March 13 from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., and on election day, March 14 from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m., at the SOE office in the Terrace Bldg.

The Sarasota County Canvassing Board will meet to canvass absentee ballots on Monday, March 13 at 1:00 p.m., and again on Tuesday, March 14 at 6:00 p.m. The Board will reconvene on Friday March 17 at 5:00 p.m. to canvass provisional ballots and will remain in session until the results of the election are certified.
