Public invited to attend logic and accuracy testing

(SARASOTA, FL, Oct 18, 2005) - Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent invites the public to attend logic and accuracy testing of the county’s voting and tabulating equipment to be used in the November 8, 2005, Sarasota County Special Referenda and the City of Venice General Elections .

The testing is scheduled for Friday, October 21 at 9 a.m. , at the office of the Supervisor of Elections in the Terrace Building , 2001 Adams Lane , Sarasota , Florida .

Logic and accuracy testing is performed prior to every election on a random sample of all the voting machines that will be fielded on Election Day to ensure that they are operating and recording accurately.

The public is also invited to inspect sealed absentee ballots received for the Sarasota County Special Referenda and City of Venice General Elections on Monday, November 7, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 noon , and on Election Day, November 8, from 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. , at the SOE office in the Terrace Bldg.

The Sarasota County and City of Venice Canvassing Boards will meet to canvass absentee ballots on Monday, November 7 at 12:00 noon , and again on Tuesday, November 8 at 6:00 p.m. Provisional ballots will be canvassed as received from polling locations election night. The board will remain in session until the results of the election are obtained.
