Email Update May 4, 2007 Dear Poll Workers, There are many changes facing election administration in Sarasota County, including the implementation of a new voting system. As a poll worker, you are our ambassador in the community. I want to keep you in the loop so you will be able to help spread the word to other voters. You may or may not be familiar with the Sarasota County Commission’s Oversight Committee on Voting Systems. This committee is comprised of community leaders and is charged with making a recommendation to the commission in the selection of our new system. They research and discuss new voting systems that comply with the charter amendment passed in last November’s election. The committee has met four times and is scheduled to meet again on Monday, May 7 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. I encourage you to view the broadcast live on Access 19, the local government station or afterwards you can view the meeting at your leisure on-line by clicking here. Please refer to your TV guide for the exact station number for your area. The committee is very close to a recommendation and a final purchase decision will not be far behind. Whether ES&S, Diebold, or Sequoia is selected, we will work diligently to plan the implementation, processes, and security of the new system. Also, voter education will be paramount. We are planning voter and poll worker open houses in September with more information to follow. You are vital to our success and we look forward to working with you as we proceed. You can find Poll Worker updates on our WEB site by clicking here. Finally, you have received this email individually from my office and are not part of a folder distribution list. If you do not wish to receive emails from me, please reply back and we will remove your email address from our records. Thanks again for your important role in Sarasota County Elections. My staff and I are grateful to have you as part of our team. Sincerely, Kathy Dent
