VETERANS DAY PARADE

Join us in honoring your loved ones

The Supervisor of Elections and her staff would like to invite you to join us in honoring our loved ones who have and are serving our country both home and abroad.  Please join us on November 11, 2007 in the annual Veterans Day Parade and Ceremony in downtown Sarasota.

These words are inscribed on the Korean War Memorial in Washington, D.C.:

“Our nation honors her sons and daughters who answered the call to defend a country they never knew and a people they never met.”

Those words apply equally to many of our World War I, World War II, Vietnam War and Gulf War veterans as well. They apply to today’s active duty service members — tomorrow’s veterans — who are helping to maintain peace throughout the world.

Today, it is our privilege to say “thank you” to all of America’s veterans, to let them know that we appreciate them for their service and honor them for their sacrifices. The price of freedom is high. We cannot afford to forget those willing to pay it.

During the parade route, we will be distributing tribute cards that describe the essence of your loved one’s service to their country.  If you would like for  your family member to be represented in this honorarium please submit to our volunteer coordinators a photo and short biography, include the branch of service, dates of service and where served.

We will be meeting at 8:45am in front of the entrance of the Terrace Building located at 2001 Adams Lane, Sarasota.  Please let us know if you plan to join us on Veterans Day by e-mailing or calling one of our coordinators.
