Sarasota County Supervisor of Elections Kathy Dent was sworn in as president of the Florida State Association of Supervisors of Elections (FSASE) by Secretary of State Kurt Browning at the group’s summer conference in Sandestin last week.  Ms. Dent was inducted during the association’s installation banquet on Tuesday, May 22 along with Jennifer Edwards (Collier County) president-elect, Mark Andersen (Bay County) vice-president, Gwen Chandler (Okeechobee County) secretary, and David Stafford (Escambia County) treasurer.

Ms. Dent, who will serve until June 2008, plans to focus on the statewide implementation of paper ballot voting systems and the latest election reforms during her term in office.

The FSASE assists its members to conduct good elections by providing continuing education and certification programs that encourage the highest level of professionalism, creates a forum for supervisors to express their joint opinions on important election issues, and works to help the citizens of Florida become better informed about voting and the democratic process.
